Wondering how we did it? We asked 2,000 people about their love of pie, then gathered together the 1,107 biggest pie fans. Next, we grouped up all the similar names – splitting into male and female – and totted up the ones that cropped up most often. Voila – the UK’s top 10 most popular pie lover names!
But that’s not all we’ve discovered. Along the way, we’ve uncovered loads of other fun facts – for example, Alans like Steak & Kidney more than any other flavour. And if your name begins with a J, you’re statistically more likely to love pies.
We’ve also found out loads about the way you love to eat your pies. A quarter (26%) of us tuck into pie once a week, most commonly on a Wednesday, and a third (33%) of pie lovers reckon pie’s the best comfort food cure for a cold, rainy day. Plus, nearly a quarter (24%) of Brits say their chippy tea is taken up a notch with a pie on top.
What about sauce? We’ve covered that, too. For a third of Brits (36%) gravy takes first place, while nearly one in seven absolute mavericks go for brown sauce over ketchup.
Whew. If we weren’t already the experts on pie (we were) we definitely are now.
